Podiatry

What Is Podiatry?

Podiatrists diagnosis and treat painful and debilitating disorders of the foot and lower leg. Podiatrists have extensive knowledge of human anatomy and a deep understanding of the mechanics of the foot and lower limb. Podiatrists provide individual treatment to all clients so they can prevent and treat lower limb and foot complaints enabling patient to walk, run and play without pain. As well as the treatment of foot problems, podiatrists also implement prevention strategies and care plans that are designed to maximise mobility and the patient’s level of activity.

Podiatry can be used in the treatment of the following conditions:

  • Corns and calluses
  • Ingrown or difficult toenails
  • Diabetic Foot Health Assessment and Diabetic Foot Care
  • Arthritis
  • Footwear advice

What is Podiatry?

Simply, Podiatrists offer a professional diagnosis and suggest and provide treatment for FOOT, ANKLE and related LOWER LIMB problems Abnormal foot mechanics are a major contributing factor to a large number of lower limb conditions. Podiatrists are highly qualified practitioners requiring a University Degree and current registration with AHPRA. Our Podiatrists are accredited Podiatrists of the Australasian Podiatry Council.

What is Podiatry and Biomechanics?

Biomechanics is the study of physics relating to the body. Much of the Podiatrists work involves assessing the biomechanics of the lower limb function and foot misalignment. Symptoms such as knee pain, shin soreness, heel pain, lower back pain, Achilles tendonitis and foot and leg fatigue may be the result of faulty foot mechanics.
